  \item{colors}{a list of colors, expressed as hexadecimal RGB, like this:  '#FF0000' or '#FA8800'}
  \item{mode}{either 'interpolate' or 'lookup'.}
  \item{default.color}{a \code{String} object, expressed in 
hexadecimal RGB, like this:  '#FF0000' or '#FA8800'}
